Curriculum

MFL (Modern Foreign Languages)

Vision

Our curriculum is designed to ensure children develop an interest in learning other languages in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating. We aim to help pupils develop their awareness of cultural differences in other countries around the world. We encourage children’s confidence and creative skills through language learning and their curiosity about language. We develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills throughout the key stage that will then provide them with the foundations for future language learning.

As set out in the National Curriculum, all pupils in Key Stage Two take part in regular French lessons.

Our school follows a carefully designed and award winning scheme of work from Primary Languages Network.

We use the Primary Languages Network French scheme of work to help deliver our MFL lessons every week across Key Stage 2. It is a comprehensive platform with core knowledge and skills, as well as interactive games and activities which children can also access with iPads when appropriate.
