Good attendance and punctuality to school is vital for pupils to be able to get the most out of teaching and learning time. We consider good attendance to be 96% or above.
Our school day begins at 8.45am for children in Reception (F2) through to Year 6. The school day ends at 3.15pm for children in these year groups. Nursery (F1) morning session begins at 8.30am to 11.30am.
If your child is to be absent from school, it is important that the school is notified as soon as possible. All absences should be reported to our school office by 8.45am. If your child is ill, please contact the school on the first morning of absence. If no contact is made, the school office will make contact requesting a reason for absence.
Government legislation (1991) obliges schools to record all absences in the school’s register, and the Education Welfare Officer may check on repeated unexplained absences.
Absence from school for any reason, other than medical or special circumstances, will not be authorised by the school. The school is obliged to report unauthorised absences to the Local Authority, and if the absences are not deemed acceptable, may impose fines and withdraw school places. Contact the Headteacher if you need clarification on this.
