Vision
At Robert Shaw Primary School, we recognise the importance of science in every aspect of daily life and we give teaching and learning of Science the prominence it requires.
We aim to provide fun, practical, engaging and high-quality science education, that provides children with the foundations for understanding the world. Our engagement with the local environment ensures that children learn through varied and first-hand experiences of the world around them. It will develop the natural curiosity of the child, encourage respect for life and the physical environment and provide opportunities for inquisitive thinking.
We are passionate about increasing pupils’ knowledge and understanding of our world, and support them developing skills associated with science as a process of enquiry. We will provide opportunities for children to review previous learning in order to consolidate their knowledge.
We want our science curriculum to reflect diversity, inclusion as well as inspire our children to see themselves as scientists.

White Rose Hub curriculum
At Robert Shaw we teach Science weekly from EYFS to Year 6 with the White Rose Hub curriculum resources. This is enriched through a strong emphasis on working scientifically and lots of opportunities for children to participate in practical science lessons.
